Woolacombe on the North Devon Coast is positioned at the bottom of a valley and its highlight is the award winning beach and surrounding coastline.
Woolacombe Sand is a broad stretch of beach popular with surfers and families alike. At its northern end is Morte Bay an area of gorse and grass that's good for walking with views over the rocky shore below. At a break in these rocks is the small Barricane Beach where tiny tropical shells are washed up from the Caribbean by Atlantic currents.
Continuing the walk from Morte Point to Bull Point the views of the rugged coast are superb and a lighthouse warns ships off the fractured reefs that stretch out to sea.
