Axminster is a little ancient market town on a hill overlooking the River Axe in the East of Devon close to the border. The town holds weekly markets on Thursday selling a wide variety of local produce and goods. The town is situated along the wonderful Jurassic Coastline and is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
The towns name Axminster is renowned throughout the world for its famous design and manufacture of carpets that where invented by Thomas Whitty in 1775.

The town of Axminster dates back to 300 BC and lies on two roman roads, which means that today it has good road access from neighbouring towns.
