Local Area Description:- Dalwood is located about 5 miles west of Axminster and lies between two ridges of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in the valley of the Corry Brook and is surrounded by superb walking country. Overall it is very rural and the predominant activites being dairy and sheep farming. Dalwood is a typical sleepy, East Devon village with a number of well preserved old thatched properties including the ancient Tucker's Arms - renowned for good food, real ales and fine wines! Close by is the market town (Thursday mornings) of Axminster well known for its still thriving carpet industry and more recently of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall fame and the base for his River Cottage Store and Canteen. Also close by is the delightful town of Honiton famous for its antique shops along the High Street as well as its street market(Tuesday and Saturday).
